Well as almost every post which has been posted tonight with any degree of criticism of Thatcher seems to have been systematically removed, I thought that the thread would be closed if I dared to suggest reasons why I thought this song was the most apt choice! I think that Ghost Town is the most appropriate tune for the Thatcher era because it got to No1 as Sheffields steel and engineering base that had taken generations and a couple of centuries to build up was being closed down and the household names that had employed whole familes were being bulldozed out of existence, leaving tens of thousands of people with no hope and no future.
