Which song most captures the spirit of the Thatcher era?

'loads a money' was a take on the yuppie culture that Thatcher created and is very relevant. I'm not sure where Alf Garnett comes in though.

 

 

Harry Enfield was mocking the 'loadsamoneys' who thought they made it big because they could afford something that they couldn't before.

Alf Garnett was mocking racist elements of the population in the 1960s and 1970s.

 

Unfortunatley some people didn't understand the concept of irony and took both these fictional characters as heros rather than villains. I think a lot of what was intended as irony was used for serious effect

 

Just like 'Thatcherism' was intended as a term invented by the left, but Mrs Thatcher used it to sell herself to the population.
