Why is it acceptable for the left to resort to violence?

We constantly hear about the complaints against bedroom tax, millionaire's tax cut, benefits etc etc.

But why is it acceptable for the left, those who are calling for changes, to be violent, rude and down right disrespectful?

Hasn't this always been the case, going back to the miner's strikes? We will get what we want, or we will fight and be violent until you give it to us?

What do you mean by people on the left?

I managed to get out of it without resorting to violence thanks. It's called hard work....

Quote of the thread.

Is it any wonder there are divisions in society. But actually Maggie was right - there is no society. You have to take responsibility for yourself, then we have society. People don't take responsibility, so we have no society.

There are many people who want to help others, but they quickly understand that these people don't want to be helped and would rather sit being bitter.

I wouldnt expect owt else from them. I wouldnt worry about owt they spout, no one listens to their outdated communist garbage anyway.

Only gullible middle-class lefty students.

In the wake of rape allegation scandal, the SWP’s Marxism 2013 event is looking like a flop with only a handful of guest speakers booked.

I'm sorry I thought this was a place for an intelligent discussion.

Clear that I am not going to find it here.

Seems to many of you that the violence last night is acceptable.

Can you show a post which condones violence from "the left" ?

With regards to your original post, what makes you think that people think it's acceptable for the left to resort to violence?

What about the extremists of the Tory supporting Countryside Alliance?

Actually the rejoice comment was after combined British naval and special forces liberated South Georgia with no British casualties and only one dead Argentinian. But hey, let's not let facts get in the way of a rant?

As a matter of interest, did they all get off the Belgrano alive then?

No, you have to take responsibility for others, especially the vulnerable, then we have a society.

Yawn. A few people in one place do something and everyone with left-wing political leanings gets tarred and feathered...

There were street parties 'celebrating' Thatchers passing in Brixton, Liverpool, Glasgow...

Hardly a few people.

Not to mention the politicians condemning her on the day her death was announced. And the disrepects shown, by those who should know better and should be setting a better example, by bycotting the House of Commons (notice the empty Labour benches).

I have to say, I am deeply disgusted by the attitude of those, especially politicians.

I have little time for Labour (the old, socialist Labour) and I have even less time now, given the petulant, immature, classless actions of those Labour MP's since her death was announced. I do not rate Ed Milliband, but his speech the other, the way he conducted himself, raised his profile in my mind.

He showed how to be respectful without being fawning or a sycophant.

Shame his party, as a whole, seem to be fully of boys and girls still unable to shake off the playground mentality.
