Council tenants in a north-west London borough could be offered cash incentives to move abroad.

Harrow Council said offers of up to £20,000 could be made to those who were "already considering moving abroad" and it would be "entirely their choice".

Are you sure? _ Given that obtaining the right to vote in the UK is about as difficult as buying a ticket to watch a Sheffield Wednesday football match, surely if half of the residents of Harrow move overseas (whilst retaining their right to vote [and they probably vote Labour] and their right to a pension and to other handouts) then given that their replacements are likely to vote Labour, it can only be good for the party?

Sounds like a smart move to me! :hihi:

i wonder why those political parties which are 'a little more to the right' haven't encouraged their supporters to move overseas?

Could it be that the Entrepreneurs, Scientists, Engineers, Medical professionals, Small business owners etc don't need encouragement?

I'm a bit of an Engineer, a bit of an Entrepreneur and a lot of a Scientist.

I don't subscribe to any right wing thinking though, indeed, many think that I'm a bit of a leftie.

Projection is a terrible mistake for an intelligent person to make(did I mention that I'm a bit of a Psychologist too:)).

Projection is futile when it's made from a point with no reference to historical (no, I'm not talking about the bloody druids!) comparisons.

My projections are based on statistics readily available (look them up for yourself) over the last 60-odd years.

I'm not projecting from a point in 2013. I'm projecting (with 60-odd years of history to herlp me) from the time I was born.

Am I intelligent? - Well, that depends on how you measure intelligence. By most usual measuring standards, my intelligence is well within the top percentile ... it's been assessed as being within the top 0.1 percent.

Am I impressed? - Not a lot. My neighbour still catches bigger fish than I do, I've got other friends who are better at maths, still others who can do crossword puzzles in half the time I can and others who can talk themselves out of trouble while I'm still stuttering.

You seem to think I might be dissuaded by your political beliefs? - Why is that?

I don't give a damn whether you are right wing or left wing. If - as you say - you re an entrepreneurial scientist trained in engineering, I wish you luck in getting up off your arse and starting an eminently successful entrepreneurially- biased scientific engineering organisation.

(I do suggest, however, that rather than going down to the local socialist HQ you go and find some like-minded people and set up a co-operative enterprise.)

Oh the sneering and attacks that would be being thrown around if this was a Tory council.
