El Cid
Hi I understand that Sunderland have got a Fascist manager. It was all hyped up by the press, Milliband resigned, but wasnt he going to the USA anyway? Andrew Brons MEP for the English Democrats was on Newsnight, it wasnt a sensible discussion, just some Labour MP calling him a far right MP. Meaning the BNP, who he used to be involved with. But the BNP tend to steal Labour seats, not Conservatives seats, so doesnt that mean that Andrew Brons is on the left? And then we have people attacking UKIP, the main parties just want to call everyone except themselves extremists. I thought that we had a free press? callippo
obviously, we do have a free press, otherwise you would not have been able to write what you have just written. I suggest you get on a plane to Beijing or Havana, if you want to talk about politics and the free press, and see what happens.
I1L2T3
Yes it is. Want to be told exactly how to live your life in an undemocratic state that beats up on the defenceless? Careful what you wish for.

If you don't think that Andrew Brons is far right, you have some catching up to do. The "some Labour MP" was Margaret Hodge, who did rather well in putting up with the old fascist's prevarication. Obelix
If you don't think that Andrew Brons is far right, you have some catching up to do. The "some Labour MP" was Margaret Hodge, who did rather well in putting up with the old fascist's prevarication. I think he used to be chairman of the National Front if I remember? He's so right wing he'd fall in the Thames if he sat in the Commons... Mind you at the bottom of the Thames we'd not be able to hear him so there's a bonus. Rupert_Baehr
Hi I thought that we had a free press? If you want a free press (and if, by 'free press' you mean one which publishes that which you wish to read -) buy your own newspaper. There is no such thing as an unbiased newspaper. Every newspaper has an Editor and that Editor either sets the editorial policy or follows the policy set by his masters. For much of my life I had access to (about the nearest thing possible to) totally unbiased news. That is deemed to be very dangerous stuff! - So dangerous that it is highly classified. It's 'need to know'. I don't (and you probably don't either.)

If they were both on the BBC for a discussion, it was very poor.
callippo
days ago, when the story broke, they wheeled up some political scientist airhead on Radio 5 who said that, yes it is probably possible to be a fascist and yet not a racist. The original Italian fascist movement, did not have a specific racial 'enemy' same way, the German National Socialist movement did. But even he said, that would be unlikely. El Cid
I think you might struggle to categorise somebody associated with the English Democrats and the BNP as left-wing. Yes, fascism is unacceptable. I dont like some forms of capitalism, but I think if moderated, it could be the best form of democracy. The principle of nationalism seems to have left our good nation, it now seems that anyone with pride in their own country is deemed an extremist, or far right.
