Michie
My shower hose needs replacing, I have the part but can't unscrew the end that connects to the shower wall part. I think the previous owner of our house must have used some kind of sealant to secure this?! Basically I need to know how I can unstick the sealant without breaking the screw on bit ... if that makes sense?? I've tried WD40 but that didn't work
speleo1
usualy you dont need to seal them as they have a rubber seal on,so maybe it was leaking befor, why not try a hairdryer on it to see if it softens up the sealent enough to unscrew it
CELCAD
The part the shower hose fixes to should be metal. Get some mole grips on the old fitting and gently turn it.
Michie
I didn't think it would need sealing either to be honest, i'm finding the longer we own the house, the more dodgy DIY things i'm coming across !! I'll try the hairdryer trick and see how that works .... thanks
ronthenekred
The part the shower hose fixes to should be metal. Get some mole grips on the old fitting and gently turn it. That would depend on the shower..if it's electric it's far more likely to be plastic. If it's plastic I wouldn't risk mole grips. The shaft of the hose most likely is plastic. You could try scoring a line from top to bottom with sharp stanley knife. Make sure you do it evenly though and try not to cut through in a couple of strokes..patience will reward you. CELCAD
Yes agree with you on that. Though they are ABS plastic so not brittle. Mole grips will still work if you know how use them properly and where to grip the hose plastic end
