Why would they need to give money to profitable business? This is the inconsistency in some right-wing thought. The mines were uneconomical, thus they shouldn't be supported by the state. If that is so then follow that rule to every industry, from farming to train networks; ad nauseum. Follow that rule with forcing people to work for companies for no wages.
