fixit4u
Hi, Anyone know if there is beginners dance classes for adults in Sheffield, not really wanting disco type or tap, just be nice for us both to be able to get up and join in with a bit of dancing some times ie-waltz, jive, etc and also get ourselves a bit fitter whilst we are enjoying the dancing, Darren
Jive Knight
Modern Jive is what you want - an easy to learn partner dance which can be danced to any kind of music (except that with an insanely fast beat!). There are two big organisations that run regular classes in Sheffield: I recommend Blitz, since the classes are bigger so you get a better choice of partners and I find it has a higher standard of dancers, but Ceroc is exactly the same style. Blitz has class evenings Wednesdays and Thursdays at Crookes Social Club, Ceroc is at the Davy on Tuesdays. Both have the same format: beginners' class starts at about 7.40, then half an hour's freestyle before an intermediate class, then about an hour's freestyle till 10.30pm. See you on the dance floor soon!
