Obelix
No they don't have an AC motor in them the voltage is corrected to run the motor on DC.the voltage goes through transformers to transform it to the different voltages needed in the appliance, the mains AC is rectified in the power supply panel by the bridge rectifiers. What transformers? Voltage isn't "corrected" to run on DC, it's either transformed voltage wise, or rectified to give DC. There is no transformer in a vacuum cleaner, it would be enourmously heavy, need cooling, and cost a fortune in copper and iron. It'll use an AC motor, similarly for a washing machine. There are a very few washing machines that use DC motors, but most are AC.
