SilverGhost
I have a car which had a learner driver box on the roof, there was what looks like a vinyl/plastic sheet under the box which i presume was to protect the paintwork, now the box has gone I am looking for a solvent or something to get the baked on plastic / glue off the roof without damaging the paintwork. I understand body shops have a solution they apply to this type of material which breaks it up and allows removal, any one in the trade give me advice on the product and where I can get it? El Cid
Try WD40? It does work for some solvents.
SilverGhost
El CID. Thanks - wd40 did move some and I used petrol to dipole the glue, still got some vinyl which seems to be welded on though
big_g
Tar remover may work - that and elbow grease. You can get Tar Remover by AutoGlym from places like Halfords. Not sure where you can get elbow grease from.

Alcoblog
Nitromors should do the job ... it may damage the paintwork a bit (bubbles and suchlike), but nothing a splash of Halfords own brand coloured turtle wax won't put right. On a slightly more serious note, if the car's red forget it.
