lil-minx92
Outside Picadilly station in Manchester hangs a big banner - Win £2500 CASH - answer this question- What is the name of the British currency? A- Dollar B- Pound C- Euro Text answer to......texts cost £1.50...lines close 23 April 2014! A YEAR LONG COMPETITION! If the promotor is still around in a year i'd be surprised. It made me think that we're getting bombarded with gambling opportunities- on TV in the advert breaks of sports programmes, internet gambling sites, scratchcards at the checkout, new casino's springing up, and now huge 'in your face' banners trying to tempt you to have a punt. I dont think its in peoples best interests and should be more regulated / taxed more highly as other 'bad habits' are.

erebus
Well the biggest gamblers are the banks, so that is OK innit. They gamble with your money and if they loose you pay up. Who said gambling was for suckers? It all depends who the suckers are and its the British public of course!!!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if they are - if even only ten thousand people text in they'd make twelve and a half grand. If a hundred thousand text in they'd make a hundred and forty seven thousand five hundred pounds. I daresay there's the cost of the banner and some automated text receiving equipment, but still. skinz
It's for the delusional, the apathetic, the weak, the insecure, the lost, the vacuous, the dull.... Unless you win of course, you then become an instant celebrity and shed all of the above.

True, but I was thinking more along the lines of them collecting the 'entry fees' for a few months then disappearing or declaring bankrupt.
