kidneystone
Why do companies still persist in using 0845 and 0870 numbers when most people use mobiles now? They know that these numbers are not included in the monthly allowance and cost us to call them. I always look on "saynoto0870" to try and find an alternative number but we shouldn't have to mess about like that. A few companies now use the 03 numbers which are included so why can't they all do that.

Janus
Why do companies still persist in using 0845 and 0870 numbers when most people use mobiles now? Because they get a share of the revenue at the caller`s expense (whether called from a mob or Land line).
Jeffrey Shaw
Why do companies still persist in using 0845 and 0870 numbers when most people use mobiles now? Except that 'most people' do not- some do, that's all.

I think there far more mobile phones in use in the UK than fixed landlines. Some facts here http://media.ofcom.org.uk/facts/
