Anna B
We might have equal rights in law, but in practice this doesn't necessarily mean real equality. You only have to look at the current government, how many women are in the cabinet? In top corporations how many women are CEOs or even sit on the board of directors? I'd like to see some actual figures for the number of female high court judges, or women bishops, or pricipals in top Universities. Yes I know it's slowly improving but until women fill 50% of these influential positions I don't think we can claim true equality.

When men get equal rights at having babies, then there might be more women available to be MPs, Judges and Bishops.
mikem8634
Here's the thing Bypass, who trained those women There were no women in those roles at the time to do the training such was the entrenched patriarchal nature of British society in the war years. Yet, from absolute scratch women did a job every bit as good as the men who had been doing it for generations. Hardly the actions of an incapable gender. Do you think so ? Fishy, do you think the worlds transport, building infrastructure and technology is run by women ... mmmmmmm ? Clearly these comments are 'whooshing' right over the heads of some posters here ! You originally questioned whether they could (see below) not whether they do. There is no reason to believe that women could not easily take on these roles as evidenced by those that did during the war years and those that currently do. When they can build and maintain the modern everyday technology, the roads, the railways, the boats, the planes, the cars and our homes while men look after the kids and go shopping NO The way you have phrased this statement reads as though you think that all women in society do is look after kids and go shopping. Is that correct? Incidentally, there a good few men and women who do exactly that and more and should be applauded for it.

pattricia
Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down a road with a big fat beer belly and tattoos on each arm. ---------- Post added 27-04-2013 at 00:53 ---------- Depends what you mean by equal. Not all men and women would choose to be equal. Some women don't seem to mind being subservient to men, and some men don't mind being dominated by women. Is that when the women dress up in leather ,and whip the men for money ?

Clown Shoes
Women are equal cause they have the vote so they have the same advantage to make a change. Its taken a while but its finally there.... If anything i think women are becoming less equal through so called celebrities & the media. WAGS, TOWIE, HELLO MAGAZINE ETC Its now cool to not know anything apart from being seen at the best party or the latest who's shagging who story Its cool to be thick...
