Is the Church of England Catholic or Protestant?

Recommended Posts

Just read through this mostly old thread.

Last year I went to a christening in a C of E church that was clearly in the Catholic wing of the religion. Until this, I hadn't realised just how different in style it was from other C of E churches I'd visited in the past. Everything about the service made great play of it being part of the Catholic Church.

A general query. The C of E includes the concept of eating the body and blood of Christ, albeit symbolically, as part of their Catholic tradition. Do other Protestant churches have the same concept? Some of them, all of them or none of them?

There were different Protestant movements across Europe which rejected papal control.

The Anglican Church (of which the CofE is a part) is only one of these.

Not all of the protestant movements/churches hold the same beliefs with regard to the Eucharist.

Wikipedia will give you some reasonable summaries.
