Longcol
UKIP supporters will understand how this will work. Local government can't do anything about immigration and the EU (as BNP councillors found out).
Mister M
Now that they have elected representatives, their candidates and councillors views will come under scrutiny. Once the public get wind of the fact that UKIP amount to little more than a collection of hysterical Daily Mail headlines - UKIP will exist for the comedy / shock value. Longcol
Ask Ed balls. He seems to have known how for a while, and just might tell you (since he won't tell the rest of us) But we want UKIP to tell us how they'd make it work.
L00b
But we want UKIP to tell us how they'd make it work.I want all the opposition parties to tell me how they'd (respectively) make it work. So far, 2 years on or so, only the Coalition has shown its game, having no choice in the matter since they're at the levers. Criticism is easy, it is the art which is difficult

L00b
I wouldn't disagree - but seeing as the thread is about UKIP................................giving a hiding to the main parties, indeed I'm quite sure there are already countless other UKIP-themed SF threads discussing their (ho-hum) policies. Longcol
................giving a hiding to the main parties, indeed Really - there haven't been elections in the Labour strongholds in the cities.
Mecky
Good result for them, very well done. Even Labour were trying to excuse it as a protest vote. I'm glad to see a strong third party alternative instead of the usual flipping from red to blue. What are the tories trying to excuse it as then? alchresearch
Who cares? UKIP are closer to the Tories than Labour, so a vote lost to UKIP isn't half as bad as one lost to Labour!
Obelix
What are the tories trying to excuse it as then? I think the more telling news is the loss of Labour vote in South Shields. I notice you've been very quiet about that. Whilst you are thinking about that, have a think on the other little posers you've avoided http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/show...60&postcount=4 http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/show...&postcount=192 http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/show...98&postcount=
