Or someone with such a grievance that only the application of many, many fivers by way of damages will assuage it.

She won't win of course, but if she did I'd be certain to pay her only in fivers, Churchill side up of course :-)

No, Scottish banknotes are valid but only in Scotland- not in England/Wales and not in Northern Ireland either.

Utter tosh!

Scottish banknotes are valid in England and Wales, just as they are in Scotland.

They're no more "legal tender" in Scotland than they are in England and Wales.

(And Bank of England banknotes aren't legal tender in Scotland for that matter either!)

"Legal Tender" has a very precise definition which refers to "that which can be accepted in settlement of a debt". It's got little or nothing to do with what can be accepted as "legal currency". (Which Scottish banknotes are)

Frankly, "Legal Tender" has as much practical use as a definition as does a chocolate teapot for the dispensing of hot beverages.

The Queen appears on banknotes and coinage by default through being the unelected head of state, ie an accident of birth. It has nothing to do with her achievement or any process of selection, a point that the initiator and supporters of this petition have made numerous times and worth reminding you of.

If and when the Queen dies, then what? 100% male coinage and bank notes? Is that truly representative or fair?

Is currency, of which only 4 pieces carry images of people (not including the monarch), which are changed every few years, supposed to be truly representative and fair?

If so, which note is getting the image of someone who is disabled? Which one is getting the ethnic minorities, which one is getting the children? Which is getting the old? Which is getting the homosexual? And so on...

If there is a problem with them not being representative enough, maybe we should scrap having famous people on them altogether and go with an abstract design like the coins.

Women make up over half of the population so your comparisons in this case aren't appropriate.
