St George flag dropped because it could offend Muslims

Recommended Posts

We have ongoing agitation in Australia because the Oz flag has the Union Flag in the first quarter.

"This will offend our citizens of non-UK origin, and will prejudice Asian countries from trading with us" they say.

No evidence of this has been produced, and trade goes on.

Strangely, I've heard no adverse comment on the Hawaiian state flag, which has the Union Flag at its center (spelt that way because they are Americans, poor things)

That's because Americans ( read Hawaiians in this instance) are not full of neurotic complexes about offending every Tom, Dick and Harry when it comes to a State flag unlike OZ and the UK. Why not stick a "kangaroo rampant" (in heraldic parlance) on your OZ flag and have done with it.... Myte !

It was wrong to do away with the Confederate battle flag insignia on the flags of a couple of southern states. That flag represented not slavery but a flag that 250 thousand men died defending. They're long dead every last one so there was no worries about insulting their memory and the nit picking concerns and protests of a few prevailed instead.

Gawd protect us from the wimps and bleeding hearts

You are aware that in this case there was only one concerned councillor and she was ignored?

Maybe they don't but that doesn't stop people like Eleanor Jackson not realising how divisive they can be

Absolutely, at times I feel sorry for the Muslims etc, they're going about their daily business and half the country are wanting their blood because ''They're coming over here and wanting me to take down my flag'' when really they couldn't care less.

The inconvenient truth about the vast majority of this and similar stories, is that a very, very large number of Muslims really couldn't care less about the English people flying their flag.

Correct.

Another left wing do-gooder doing the nation down with political correctness, shame the local council of Radstock don't see the national flag as something to take a bit of pride in.

and the Muslim response:

When will the left of this country stop claiming offense on behalf of others?

I should imagine the MCGB get really fed up of twerps like Eleanor Jackson and her comments.

It is a shame that England does not give us a lot to be proud of these days.

But considering how annoyed people are at the idea, and the idea has no foundation, is this not an attempt* by the idiot on the council to stir up racial hatred?

And is there not a law against that?

There is - but it's only applied in more serious cases. Just as well for the Daily Mail as it would never be out of the dock for stirring up divisions - with stories like the 'Winterval' myth it started a few years ago.
