Best place for car wheel tracking

Recommended Posts

As I've done before, I recommend Top Tread just outside of town. On my old car I used to own they did the tracking for me, was brilliant, even before they went ahead they took me through and told me that the inside of my wheel was bent a little (after an incident with some ice and a curb) and that they would happily do the job but it may not be perfect. I think it was either £15 or £25 I can't remember now.

They get a LOT of bad press, and rightly so, but previously I took it to KwikFit, they had this system whereby if it wasn't right you could take it back as many times within a week to have it re-done. It took about 3 times to do it, but they eventually got it right. the only reason I never used them again is because they tried to charge me £90 for two track rod ends because mine were ''Too rusty and would snap'' this was when I took it to Top Tread and they took a wire brush to them, 30 seconds later showed it was only surface rust.

I would prefer to take my car to where they know what they are doing and not have numerous attempts at trying to get it right :loopy:

Having had experience of KwikFit, I would not touch that place with a barge pole :nono:

Do not go to Kwik Fit, absolutely useless!

I don't know why people think 'mechanics' can't do it. When I had to get it done for mine I googled 4 wheel alignment sheffield and found a specialist rather than going to a 'mechanic'.

Stay well away from Kwik Fit may be cheap but I think if you go to a garage than knows what they are doing you are going to get a far better service.

Garage was MBS Traction in Attercliffe went out my way a little to take it there but would take it again if ever had another problem.

Wow, another recommendation for Top Tread tyres from me, we called in as we felt the car was pulling to the left slightly, we booked for the tracking to be done, as this was what we probably thought was the cause of the problem, after a full check the tracking was found to be fine, but the tyres needed a lot more pressure as they were running very low, all in 20 mins on the car ramp, and NO CHARGE, not a penny, we even offered a couple of quid for a drink, but they refused, fantastic, I will most certainly be using TOP TREAD again for any future work, and will not hesitate to recommend them to all I meet in the future, customer service at it's best, great work guy's

Should you not be checking tyre pressure yourself?

Roddisons Motorsport in tinsley have a 4-wheel lazer alignment setup with corner-weighting.

It's 'the best' place in Sheffield to get a proper alignment done, I don't think anywhere else in the city has a equivalent system??

Autodynamics on Attercliffe Road have it and have had it for a long time :-)

Its no good having the best equitment when the idiot/mechcanic dont use it right. i would travel to revolution in brighouse. they use it to track porsche day in and day out and are a set of good lads. I rather they do it then so trainee on £7 an hour

Out of interest which places use trainees on £7 per hour?? Only asking as no one in their right might would let anyone inexperienced loose on a piece of kit worth so much money without knowing what they were doing. hunter Hawkeye machines cost a fortune!!
