I've often wondered why Ron Roland seems to be forgotten and not made the Local "historic" impact he deserves..there's very little references to him.. Was his wife Mary? I read some of his writing in the 70's to do with the Scottish Isles.

His style was reminiscent of Alan Coren whimsical & comedic as he chronicled his home life with wife & family in Second Opinion. I think he had three kids. I'm surprised he died in 1988 his children can't have been too old, I met him once at his home.

Ron Roland's wife was Brenda...he always, in his column, referred to her in terms whimsical affection, he had five children, one lad four girls....I suspect they've all done well...hope they've not all moved too far from Sheffield....
