premaviswam Posted May 24, 2013 Share Posted May 24, 2013 Does anyone remember Radha and Gita who lived in Broomhill from 1964-71? I am Prema, Radha's daughter and Gita's sister. They came to the UK for Gita's medical treatment and stayed on. My mother was a nursing auxiliary in the Sheffield Hospitals. Gita was in both Children's Hospital and Ryegate and from 1966 she went to Chantry School as a weekly boarder. I think that has closed down now. They - and for a while I - lived in one of George and Janet Helsing's housesin Ashgate/Ashdell Road, I'd love to hear from anyone who can remember either or both of them - an Indian lady in a sari wasn't such a common sight in the UK nearly 50 years ago! Sadly both of them died 10 years ago - on my last visit to the Uk 3 years ago, I came to Sheffield just for old times sake. Such nostalgia!
