Banning Lads Magazines

Recommended Posts

Says who?.......

Me, for one. Page 3 is pointless. It's ugly. It's at the shallowest end of porn and serves no purpose in a newspaper.

However, I wouldn't ban it. I just hope that one day it'll be left behind as fashion moves on.

People who want to ban things generally aren't very "liberal". What has happened to the left in this country? When did they become the prudish, control freaks?

The left have always been control freaks but being prudish is relatively new; I think its because they're now in cahoots with radical Islam. :suspect:

What an absurd suggestion. On what grounds do you say such a silly thing?

I don't view page 3 as porn, it is Venus de milo for the common working man.

Not everyone on the left wants to ban things. Just like not everyone on the right does.

Jessica has already addressed this, however, it seems this is being wilfully ignored or misunderstood.

Here it is again:

It wasn't ignored. I dismissed it as it was the exact nonsense I was talking about.

Essentially in one blunt and probably over-simplified catch-all sentence:

"Men shouldn't be allowed to objectify women but it's ok for women to objectify men/women because we're women"

Which is the crux of the argument that this campaign and many other feminist BS ideas is sheer hypocrisy. They're calling for legislation to stop shops selling 'lads mags' but make no mention of the 'women's mags' that have/do the same. The amount of articles etc is irrelevant.

As I stated before, I'm not against equality but this isn't about it, this campaign is a crusade by Kat Banyard and her followers to force their moral views on others and abusing equality legislation to do that.

Now I don't expect you to agree with that because you're personally invested on an emotional level with the subject and therefore your logical reasoning is compromised. That's not a slur on you, just a fact of the human condition.

Many on the right indulge in control freakery too. As for being in cahoots with radical Islam you're talking out of the other end
