I would be less interested in the pictures if they were of older women, although some older women do look great, I have to admit! :hihi: No one has the right to be considered attractive. I do not consider pictures of naked people in non-sexual poses to be inappropriate. One point I have to make is that those who object to such things tend not to be so good looking themselves. :o I have to admit that whenever I see naked pictures of athletic, muscular young men, I feel a bit inadequate and uneasy because I don't look so good myself, but I won't allow jealousy to influence my opinions. Think on...

Really? Given the comments on this thread about Kay Banyard, that line of reasoning is somewhat defunct. Given that I myself was approached with offers for modelling (albeit non-glamour modelling and in my youth) that would also refute your argument. Please do not project your insecurities onto everyone else.:)

Yes rapists do like to show they are in control, that's how they scare their victims witless, but not only beautiful women are raped .....also sadly lots of women don't report rape as they are probably so scared and traumatised, and possibly some don't believe they'll be believed.

I personally feel that rape be it of a woman, child, or man; is the most heinous crime possibly that can be. The sad thing is also that some women when raped, must think do I give in to get it over with, thinking that's the end, and then they are murdered.

I know what I'd do with ALL rapists and murderers for that, but the latter is for another discussion.

Pete

Great post.

Oh and by the way, a woman I know who is a staunch feminist activist was approached and asked to do glamour modelling. So let us once and for all put to bed this utterly pathetic 'those who object are ugly' trope.

It's pretty silly this. I have a relative who often leaves a paper at my house with a page 3 (? page 7) girl. I've never read the rags, but do have a look at the pictures some times. They're usually very pretty girls in a pretty, beautiful, sometimes natural, pose. I've never considered them anything other than pleasant to look at, and I do not consider them to be degrading in any way. They are a celebration of the beauty of the healthy, young female form, and long may they continue!

Are you a member of the Taliban by any chance, Bedrock?

The human form is the only thing considered taboo when quoting about its beauty..

Calling someone stupid for having an opinion different to yours !

Your a bully that cannot debate anything without resorting to insulting someone.

I would have to agree.. Sillt really because there are the occassional valid points he/she raises.

This is a true point. I feel most feminists, both men and women, appear to be not very attractive. There are the odd occassions that they are but these are few and far between. We can only assume that good looking women are quite happy with the attention their looks aford them, albeit shallow.

Actually some want sex with a consensual partner but because they don't have one they resort to rape. Some even think the person they are having sex with has actually consented.

Does pornography breed rape? Do violent movies breed violent crime? Quite the opposite, it seems.

First, porn. What happens when more people view more of it? The rise of the Internet offers a gigantic natural experiment. Better yet, because Internet usage caught on at different times in different states, it offers 50 natural experiments.

The bottom line on these experiments is, "More Net access, less rape." A 10 percent increase in Net access yields about a 7.3 percent decrease in reported rapes. States that adopted the Internet quickly saw the biggest declines.

Yes, I am well aware of your line of argument. Paedophiles cannot help it and are misunderstood. Pornography decreases rape. Rape Crisis centres are undertaking biased research. Beautiful women are raped by men who want sex with a beautiful woman. I have a problem with men (in fact hate them all) and believe all men to be rapists. *yawn*

In my experience, the most anti-feminist men are really ugly and rather desperate. Horrible and lacking in charm and social graces as well as intellect. And they develop fixations about feminists and stalk them. They're usually sex starved and single. Sad really.

Where do you get these ideas from?

Interesting. Is that why that was such a public outcry about Alison Lapper's statue? Is this why people shy away from any form of disability which by most would not consider to be 'beauty'? Is that why Demi Moore's pregnant nude pose on the cover of Vanity Fair caused such a brouhaha?

Mr Smith believes that porn prevents rape.

You have fixed opinion which isn't open to new research or ideas, and when challenged you always resort to this crap.

Silly of you to impute me with such things; I have no insecurities about my body. I am sufficiently better than average in every respect to have no concerns whatsoever. There is no connection with Page 3 girls and pornography. And judging by the raw nerve I seem to have hit, I bet I'm right! :hihi: As you say, it was non-glamour modelling, and so that does not refute my argument at all. Had it been for page 3, then may be...

Good for you. But it still undermines the 'unattractive argument' regardless of whether it is catwalk or glamour modelling. Anything further to add?
