EDL NOT causing trouble

Recommended Posts

The real clear and present danger is radical Islam, so why do the hard left UAF concentrate so much time and energy on the ineffectual EDL?

Just because radical Islam is a threat and the EDL don't like them does not mean the EDL aren't also a threat. It's this blinkered thinking that the EDL use as a recruitment tactic.

Surely you can't think the EDL are helping reduce the radicalisation of Muslims?

Yes you mean the anti edl supporters who do not believe in freedom of speech. The edl could have left a few flowers job done then cheerio but no we have the do gooders out in force. I do not support the edl but these other idiots are a joke thinking they are some kind of moral police, what gives them the right to stop people paying their respects. If the edl were doing it to preach hate thats fine protest all you want but where were you when other fanatics preach their hate. Hypocrites good intentions or not.

A couple of the advance party of edl gave Nazi salutes to the people denying them their 'freedom'.

On reflection, I think it would have been better if everyone had ignored them and just not turned-up. They aren't worth it. The policing alone must have cost £70k.

I agree and I am told UAF aren't doing anything near enough to challenge it.

Not really. The biggest threat to 'British' culture is cheap supermarket booze, brain dead TV programmes and formulaic youth culture.

People sit there at home off their heads on crates of beer, watching big brother and listening to One Direction. Spouting off about Muslims is a proxy for their sense of unease over not feeling they have a culture any more, while singularly failing to recognise they are destroying their own culture by not doing anything particularly British themselves.

Discuss.

But without cheap supermarket booze, brain dead TV programmes and formulaic youth culture, the EDL won't have anyone wanting to join them

They don't know what they are. Only what they are not.

And they're already playing the "you don't like the UAF / students / socialists, so come support us" card in the EDL rally thread...
