L00b
You painted the plans as coming from a leftist think-tank associated to Hollande. Reading the article it has nothing to do with Hollande and is just the idea of one person who has also worked for Sarkozy as well as others. The author, Jacques Delpa, is a self-declared supporter of Hollande, openly rejected Sarkozy on the run up to the last presidential elections, and has repeatedly offerred advice to Hollande's Gvt on economic matters in media. Since you seem able to read French, here you go. You just tried a dirty right-wing trick and failed. You just dug that hole of yours a bit deeper. Want to stop there, or carry on? Reading the article it has nothing to do with Hollande and is just the idea of one person who has also worked for Sarkozy as well as others. You could have said it was a think-tank linked to the UMP or to BNP Paribas but you thought you'd be clever and attach it to Hollande so you could try and discredit him over something he has nothing to do with. You just tried a dirty right-wing trick and failed. The problems in France were just as prevalent in Sarkozy than they are under Hollande
Anna Glypta
The problems in France were just as prevalent in Sarkozy than they are under Hollande I thought Hollande cut retirement age by 2 years in a country that couldn't afford the retirement age they already had. He also imposed a 75% tax on the rich but has yet to claim one euro from the tax because the high earners who had bee paying millions in tax in France cleared off and now pay it elsewhere. L00b
I thought Hollande cut retirement age by 2 years <...>He did, but only for those who started working age 18 (and a bit) and have paid a full 41 (and a bit) years' worth of contributions. For context, that's a whole 110,000 persons

Mister M
Frances situation is validating the position of those who said all along you cannot spend your way out of debt. The red brigade who say we should heavily tax the rich and ditch austerity are very quiet when it comes to France. They know its a shining example of how these ideas can go totally wrong and put you in even more of a mess. One could equally say that based on the experiences on of this country austerity isn't working. It all depends on political prejudice

I was going to post an addendum that our coalition have had 3 years, which Hollande hasn't.
truman
I was going to post an addendum that our coalition have had 3 years, which Hollande hasn't. Were you so understanding when Cameron et al had only been in the job for a year? Again a genuine question...
