Army cadets unable to wear uniform!

Recommended Posts

The tyranny of a very small minority intimidates to the point that cadets/soldiers must be confined to barracks when wearing the Queen's uniform.

How about the Grenadier Guards and the Household Cavalry? Parading in civvies from now on?

These kind of wimpy decisions are exactly what terrorist nutters hope to achieve. Intimidation by terrorism.

It seems from what I've read on other threads that even the English flag is now being targeted as a symbol of racism.

Wimps Rule !

Yes I've seen the cadets walking up Barnsley road to Norborough hall.the thing is that half of the old 212 medics barracks there is now an islamic centre of some sort, they seem to get on together.

I have seen cadets there on off for a while now and yes there is an Islamic school in one half of the building.

Cadets are our future defence force, anyone wishing them harm needs to be taken out.

To the op, I think your lad has been told as a precautionary measure not to wear it.

My Son has been told that he is not to wear his Army cadet uniform when going to and from the barracks and can only wear it once safely inside and that this is for his own safety.

Surly what happened in Woolwich was an isolated incident by two nutters who have no place in society and that this kind of thing is not going to become the norm.

I am unsure how to feel about the non uniform policy currently in place and wondered what you people though about it?

I think it's sad but if there are nutters about who could harm him it's best to be safe.

Was like that for me with the uniform regs. When we were bussed from cattrick garrison to training areas in coaches we had to wear civvie tops over fatigues and black bag them to be taken back once on site.

The only time we could wear uniforms is if we were on official bussiness outside of the barracks, even a chippie run 5 min round trip was done in civvies.

This was in the 90's when terrorists spoke with an Irish accent now seems terrorists come in all flavours.

This happened to us, when as a member of the Navy, we were forbidden to wear uniform outside base, along with our RAF collegues. We were based at RAF Wittering at the time. After a few insults were hurled at a few RAF personnel in Peterborough, the CO took a knee jerk reaction and banned us all fro wearing uniform outside the gates. The PM, at the time, voiced his concern and the CO was subsequently relieved of her command.

Apparently it makes them more significant targets for Islamic nutters who like to murder innocent people in cold blood. In this day and age I'd go with what he's been told to do, at least you'll know he's safe

How this country has changed.

In the late 1960s it was a regular occurrence for soldiers to put on their N0.2 uniform on a Friday night and thumb it home for the weekend and do the same on a Sunday to return to camp.

People always stopped and gave us lifts.

That's true. In the Navy you weren't allowed to be out of uniform below the rank of Petty Officer except on a long weekend leave away from the ship or camp. I hitchiked everywhere.

In my day we had similar instructions from wing but in relation to Catholic nutters who liked to murder innocent people in cold blood. The CO was a man who didn't much care for hiding and put it to us as "if anyone wants to skulk around like a frightened rabbits in civies then there's nothing I can do to stop it". We continued to wear uniform and no-one died.
