Unemployment but do people want to work?

Recommended Posts

Increased demand and over-fishing.

Or it could be that bankers are now piling into the commodities markets and creating another bubble, or, as with the guy who bought up all the cocoa and stored it to create artificial shortages, they could be manipulating the prices with dodgy practices.

I think a lot of the tuna price rise is becuase they now have to use line to catch them and not nets anymore, so instead of catching ten with a net they now catch one with line, so supply is down meaning prices rise .

I think I read somewhere that the eu is banning the sale of net caught tuna....but that's a different topic altogether !

Can you tell me by how much the profits on Tuna fishing have increased over the past 5 years?

Not off the top of my head but I suspect it's pretty substantial as other people have indicated. If you're that desperate to know you can look it up for yourself.

Who are you to say what a unrealistic expectation is?
A fully-qualified professional who entered the profession unqualified at the very bottom and who, 13 years on, bases recruitment decisions, and comments in here, on:

(i) professional body-commissioned annual salary surveys,

(ii) commercially-prepared bi-annual industry benchmark reports, and

(iii) personal contacts at partner level in the UK, Ireland, Continental Europe and the US both in private practice and industry.

I have now attained a sufficient level of experience and seniority in my (highly-specialised and extremely niche) industry that yes, where that industry/profession is concerned, I (along with similarly senior and experienced peers) now know best.

Live with it :P

It does not matter who you think you are, you are not God. You have no jurisdiction over anyone. I'm sure you have opinions, but you have no right to say to anyone what other peoples' expectations should be.

I haven't claimed any superiority or 'jurisdiction' over anyone. I have labelled salary/benefits expectations of applicants for jobs we advertised as unrealistic, and qualified on what authority/basis I did that in my last post.

I don't know your job or field of industry, but let's say I want to do your job and I want £100k for my troubles. Are my expectations realistic?

People offer crap salaries and conditions and then wonder why people won't work for them.
