What to do in Liverpool for two nights?

Recommended Posts

Just been reading this thread and always thought that Liverpool was a dump (hearsay & such) and just full of vagabonds and scallys. Is it really such a nice place to visit for a long weekend and safe, as just mentioned it to wife, as we are looking for somewhere a bit different to York.

The centre of Liverpool is quite nice nowadays.

Liverpool city centre is fantastic. It's improved immeasurably in the last couple of decades and I strongly recommend anybody who fancies doing something different for a change to go there for a weekend away.

Disclaimer

Many areas of Liverpool outside of the city centre are sadly notorious for crime, violence and general untidiness so I'd avoid leaving the relative safety of the city centre unless you know the city well enough ( Knowsely Safari park is great  )

Yeah, course it is! It's much more visiter-centric than Sheffield/Leeds/even Manchester.

Yep, it really is. Granted there are some real holes on the outskirts - Gateacre, Norris Green, Bootle, and so on, which usually marr the city.

But if you were encouraging people to come to Sheffield, would you suggest they approach via the Manor and Wybourn?

And if you're in the car, you could always visit Elswick Street, where they filmed the "comedy" Bread:
