Nice places in Greece

Recommended Posts

Thinking about going to Greece for a week. Any recommendations?

Really liked Skiathos, a lovely town with harbor, great bus service to get round the island.

Really liked Thassos, stayed in the old town, bit like Skiathos but smaller.

Would like somewhere else that has a traditional town, not just some hotel complex built next to a beach. Skiathos was great as we were in the main town, but the little spots all round the island where the bus goes would have driven us nuts if we were based in any of them.

Anyone been to anywhere good?

Also been to Cephalonia which was nice, but not as nice as the others.

Parga is nice, some really excellent tavernas and town with a castle.

Where did you fly to? There must be a closer airport than Athens!

We went to Parga a few years ago and flew to Preveza.

Done it again!

Cheers plant, was it good?

:)

It was lovely - nice castle , some good restaurants , pleasant harbour etc.

A similar place (but a little hillier) is Molyvos on Lesbos- it is a cruise stop and has good links to the rest of the island.

Lesbos is nice (well might be its been 20 years!). I remember Petra (we did a day trip- it had a petrified forest). Kaloni (sp?) was nice too. Has a massive salt marsh so pretty awesome for bird watching. That said the best two weeks of my life was in a quiet village in Corfu.
