barnie41
I've got my first centre pin reel - and want to get it loaded up to use in the next few days. I've a 250m spool of 4lb line, but whats the best way to load it properly? Always used fixed spool reels that spread the line across the spool - any suggestions? If you're out tomorrow - good luck! sheff 13
250 mtr of line on a centre pin is far too much, you only need about 50 mtr to prevent the line from bedding into itself.
denlin
You need to have two people one with the spool on a pencil which allows free running and then you just move the reel side to side so that it goes evenly across and agree with other poster 50m is plenty
walker_blade
Easy way I found to do it by yourself is to put the reel on the first section of your rod and trap the line between your finger and rod and reel it on
sheff 13
If we're talking about loading the reel the easiest way is to put the reel on your rod, thread the line through the but ring to the reel, drop the spool of line in a bucket of water & just wind the line on. You get the correct tension & no line twist.
charliewag
i have the line coming off the top of my centre pin so as to reduce the the angle from reel to rod. this helps the line to peel off easier.
