It's quite possible that Marxist theory explains why we are where we are now. We have had socialist failures for sure. But the situation the world now faces is a global economic take-down because of the failure of right-wing governments. Basically if you believe we have a capitalist world economy then it's quite possible that if capitalism is still alive it could still fail. IMO it's on life support. At the moment. The west is struggling with red tape and lack of economic killer instinct and putting outdated morals before national interests. No, we are where we are now because of the neoliberal right wing agenda which had supposedly triumphed over and replaced postwar socialism. It's right wing policies that have driven globalisation and allowed the financial sector to become so destructive. The world is not doing fine. Not at all. It's done alright for many nations who previously were "have nots". The world was no good where a few nations in the western hemisphere enjoyed all the prosperity and industialization and many in the rest of the world had nothing at all and had gained zero after a century or more of exploitation by colonial masters.
