Edward Snowden; Hero or villain?

Harleyman, you need to study it more.

Why would 75% of societies be Marxist? It's quite possible that Marxist theory explains why we are where we are now. We have had socialist failures for sure. But the situation the world now faces is a global economic take-down because of the failure of right-wing governments. Basically if you believe we have a capitalist world economy then it's quite possible that if capitalism is still alive it could still fail. IMO it's on life support.

The world is doing fine. At the moment. The west is struggling with red tape and lack of economic killer instinct and putting outdated morals before national

interests. The last thing we need is leftist a, they put us where we are now.

No, we are where we are now because of the neoliberal right wing agenda which had supposedly triumphed over and replaced postwar socialism.

It's right wing policies that have driven globalisation and allowed the financial sector to become so destructive.

The world is not doing fine. Not at all.

The current situation is well summed up imo by Eric King, the head of research at an organisation called privacy international:

"One of the underlying tenets of law in a democratic society is the accessibility and foreseeability of a law. If there is no way for citizens to know of the existence, interpretation, or execution of a law, then the law is effectively secret. And secret law is not law. It is a fundamental breach of the social contract if the government can operate with unrestrained power in such an arbitrary fashion"

What's wrong with globalisation? It's done alright for many nations who previously were "have nots".

The world was no good where a few nations in the western hemisphere enjoyed all the prosperity and industialization and many in the rest of the world had nothing at all and had gained zero after a century or more of exploitation by colonial masters.

Compared to what it was... the world is doing damned well

Snowden strikes again: 'NSA in bed with Germany'

Such spying fully enables insider trading by politicians, corrupt bankers and the intelligence people involved... that is a total disaster for free market economics and private investors.

Only stupid people think the spying going on is a good thing.

No mention of China I see. The world's biggest spy masters. Course Snowden wouldnt mention China. He owes them for allowing him to escape extradition and then slip away on the first leg of his escape from justice
