Edward Snowden; Hero or villain?

Recommended Posts

No. Sorry. You're not making sense. I think I'll leave you alone now. Have a nice day!

Your just another one like Le Maquis or maybe even the same person

I'm surprised EU countries are so willing to assist in apprehending Snowden, given he has exposed the fact that the EU were even spied on.

Let's stop messing around and face the facts that there are Muslim societies living in EU countries. Most of them are decent, law abiding people I'm sure but on the other hand there may be those among them who do correspond with others like them who have ulterior motives.

Tell me that there have been no terrorist plots foiled by spying on some Muslim youth in England. Five were arrested and charged not long ago I believe as a result of intelligence work by the British police or security agency

And that justifies eavesdropping on EU officials how?

Some of his leaks have been about EU countries, they're all playing the same spy games. UK, France, Germany, USA have a similar kind of setup, share information with each other & they spy on each other too.

And you know that how, exactly?

One of the complaints made by Merkel was that the BND Does not have anything like the level of funding enjoyed by security services of other governments. Another was that the Constitution controls very strictly what the BND can (and cannot) do.

I suggest that there might be a bit of a difference between: "Your buddies spying on you 'on the quiet' and passing the information they receive on to you (also on the quiet) - You might be able to live with that. ;) (Especially if it was the only way you were going to get the information.)

And

"Somebody with a big mouth telling everybody that your buddies are spying on you."

That might not be quite so 'politically acceptable.'

I think the USA had a constitution too, didn't stop them.

That's why the UK government gets away with acting in a morally spurious manner because they dont hire ethical conscientious people. Is that simple enough for you?

I don't think your sentence made much sense either. What on earth do you mean by 'morally spurious'?

Maybe spurious wasn't the best word, I could have said 'morally questionable'.

Anyhow, essentially, if an organisation (or government) is acting in a grossly unethical manner; it's better if they don't employ ethical minded people.

So what do you think?

Is Edward Snowdon, currently on the run from America, on spying charges, a hero or a villain?

He yet another whistleblower putting information in the public zone which he believes they have a right to know.

There have been a lot of these lately which suggests the extent of the information which is being hidden from the general population.

This is not about terrorism which is constantly being invoked to cover up all manner of malpractice, but embarrassing information often relating to corruption in high places.

In these difficult times don't we have a right to know about the people who are in control and but dishonest?

ABSOLUTE HERO....

As is Bradley Manning, Julian Assange and Christopher Boyd (immortalised in the film Falcon and the Snowman)

Thank God for the Whistelblowers who put the people first.

Are you happy about the way your own Government and the US have been monitoring you?

Take a good look at this link, and then thank the likes of Edward Snowdon for his courage.

Change your search engine to Duck Duck Go for a start... at the moment they do not monitor?
