WeX
Holy ........ no! and they cancelled Time Team this year too! He was a giant in his field (no pun intended)! No official news yet, but its also on their twitter feed: https://twitter.com/thetimeteam Maybe this is why he quit time team in 2012, if he was ill. taxman
That's a shame. He was likeable and enthusiastic and a genuine academic.

No, he quit because of the changes they were making. He believed they were dumbing it down.
Minimo
I'm so sorry to read this. A man who loved his subject, and made TT, along with Phil Harding and Tony R. I used to love Time Team but like all successful programmes 'they' started messing about with it till it became unwatchable and they could claim it had passed its sell by date. Cretins! Plain Talker
A very sad loss. His enthusiasm for Archaeology was infectious and his knowledge was encyclopaedic. He and Phil "made" Time Team. Loved the programme to bits, till the last series or two when they made changes, and mucked the format up.
