Sharrow Fringe presents: Edinburgh Comedy Previews!

Come one, come all to an evening of Edinburgh Comedy Previews live at The Old Junior School Hall. We have four very diverse and talented acts from near and far warming up for their full-length runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Performing for us on the night will be:

THE SHEFFIELD REVUE

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE MORALLY AMBIGUOUS

After success at the Camden Fringe 2012 with the show Northern Droll, The Sheffield Revue combines sprightly characters with western themes. Using a handpicked cast matched with a committed team of writers promises a variety of sketches and a charming performance of silliness and mirth. The Good, the Bad and the Morally Ambiguous is not one to miss!*

“It’s a strong sketch show, with a lot of nice ideas, great delivery and in equal parts erudite and daft” - View From The Gods

“Northern Droll is one of those rare and treasured examples of university comedy” - Broadway Baby

“Clever and entertaining” - Camden Fringe Voyeur

---

ALISTAIR GREAVES

ALL ABOARD FOR FUNTIME!

Loosely inspired by Iggy Pops post-Stooges solo material recorded with David Bowie and featuring hilarious songs about an Irish republican revolutionary military organisation who were very naughty! Observations on Lars von Trier movies and Dinosaur Origami.

'Talented' (Time Out).

'Sharp and cutting one-liners, solid and funny material for such a new up and coming stand-up' (Patrick Monahan).*

'Through his relaxed offbeat approach he delivers exceptionally well written dry jokes. Someone to follow as he rises.' (Ed Aczel).

SEAN MORLEY

ALT.COM.CABBAGE

Antiestablishment introvert Sean Morley is bringing his first one-man show to the Fringe about his misadventures seeking 'alternative comedy' in the north of England. Needless to say, this was like seeking out needles in a haystack. A haystack where the ethos of needles had been summarily rejected as a label used to excuse a lack of talent or because they feel that needles should be relegated to the 80's where they belong.*

"It cannot be denied that Sean Morley is funny. His bizarre parallels of surrealism and sharp wit create a unique brand of comedy that draws a packed out room of punters." - Forge Press

"His humour is refreshing and as he speaks it feels like you’re getting a cheeky peek into the weird and wonderful workings of his mind." - Postcode Gazette

"A leftfield treat. Lobbing surreal observations into the audience. Watching to see which explode and which don't. Most do." - Sheffield Telegraph*

"A charmingly wry take on the world - A top show in all." - Sheffield Star

STAPLE/FACE

BATHTIME WITH TOM'S DAD

Join Stapleface for a fresh-faced, well-behaved sketch show from three polite and wholesome young men. From out of their bath, Sam, Mike and Tom have pulled a bubbly treasure chest full of energy, quirkiness and warped nostalgia. What a fantastic gift from dad! NB: Tom's dad will unfortunately not be appearing in the show due to creative differences, but sends his best.

'Brimming with strong ideas' (Metro).*

'Packed full of goodies' ***** (RemoteGoat.co.uk)

Finalists in Gilded Balloon and Sketch Club's Best New Sketch Act 2013.

Plus!

Music from Dominic Rout (and others TBC)

When?

7pm

14th July

Where?

The Old Junior School,*

South View Road,

Sheffield*

How Much?

We'll be operating a Pay What You Want Scheme.

All donations go to The Sharrow Lantern Carnival and Sharrow Festival.

Why?

All of these performers have spent months writing and rehearsing these shows many of which will be their debuts at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival: Once there they will be performing daily for a month. Preview shows like this are few and far between and allow performers to test drive the show and get in some much needed practice before the Fringe. Obviously, this means nothing without an audience - any donations will go straight towards The Sharrow Fringe and upcoming Sharrow Community Events like The Lantern Carnival as a thank-you for helping us organise this show.*
