Government ignores advice of Drugs Committee.

Recommended Posts

The herbal stimulant khat is to be banned by the government, against the advice of its own Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs.

No thanks

•It can cause insomnia and can make pre-existing mental health problems worse and can cause paranoid and psychotic reactions (losing touch with reality).

plenty of "legal" medication drugs can, alcohol can

point is the experts say its not that bad, but the government decide to ignore em, just like the nu labore ones did previously

whats the point of paying experts then ignoring em when they come to the conclusion you dont like?

Simples, alcohol is taxed, khat won't be.They don't want us to have a good time for free.

People in power don't like to hear negatives, because it means a problem.Positive all the way, even if it means ignoring,in this situation the drugs committee.

The government's intention to ban Khat is utterly baffling. It's not like it has become popular outside of the people who historically took it in the places they came from, mostly Yemenis and Somalians. It's not been a problem and generates tax income as a legal business.

I don't get it.

Walk around some parts of London and you can see the problem.....the stuff is spat on pavements, up walls. The substance may not be harmful, people spitting it everywhere certainly could be.
