I'm in Sheffield but I'm not British. How? Added; I heard that if I do not want my organ donated when I'm gone, I would not be able to get an organ donated to me when I need it. Is this true? medusa Posted July 4, 2013 Share Posted July 4, 2013 The latest decisions about organ donation only apply in Wales, not in England, so if you're in Sheffield that won't apply to you anyway. In England, no organs are ever taken without your next of kin's agreement, even if you're on the organ donor register. And nobody makes any sort of judgement decision on whether you were prepared to give your own organs if you get into a position where you need an organ, either in England or in Wales The same applies to blood- whether you are a blood donor makes no difference as to whether you could have a transfusion if you were in need of one.
