If it is the Kings Arms Hotel that ALANRADCLIFF is referring to, it must have closed at sometime around 1970 ? I started drinking in our town pubs in 1972, and don't recall the Kings Arms on Commercial Street being open then. Kidorry, I do know it had a snooker table. jaffa1
Could it have been the one that turned into a Chinese restaurant? I remember going downstairs to one in the middle of the block on Commercial Street, that would have been in the early 70s.

lazarus
I used the pub it had a revolving entrance door . The revolving door was one of only two in Sheffield pubs, the other was in the Athol on the corner of Charles St, the pubs still there but its a slot machine place. The Kings Arms was a Higsons pub, they were a Liverpool Brewery, its logo was a cut out barrel in the shape of an "H"
jaffa1
That was the Gambit on the other side of the road. That's the name I was looking for , the Gambit which was higher up from the Gas company. I can't remember the Kings Arms then if it was across the road.
