alas_alas
I don't know about that but they have this quote over the door: “There is nothing like puking with somebody to make you into old friends.” Quote from The Bell Jar (though to be honest I didn't remember that one - it sounds more like an old adage when taken out of context. Grim/ironic otherwise, in the text). Loving this growth of literary themed pubs and cafes. More, Sheffield!

I'm going for the 'Robinson Crusoe', where you can feast on baby goat and turtle eggs. Mmmm!
boyfriday
A Sylvia Plath theme pub? All electric then. ---------- Post added 12-07-2013 at 17:39 ---------- It's not Barry's. It's the Albion. Posted from Sheffieldforum.co.uk App for Android That's a shame, Barry brings to licensed victualling, what Victor Meldrew brought to the Happy Clappy Club. Haha, nice but insufficiently miserabilist. I suggest the 'Lord of the Flies': a family pub with children's play area.
taxman
Excellent. A new venture without all the over the top corporate excrement speak that Brewdog thought appropriate. And a welcome addition to London Road, because no matter how many fans the Cremorne has had over the years, it's always been a hole, with either poor beer or no beer at all (I've been in when they've had to go and buy bottles from over the road) and usually full of druggies and wastoids trying to blag money off you. There is a point where Bohemian and alternative becomes drug-addled and annoying.

The restaurants on London Rd are the best in Sheffield, no doubt, and now we need some decent pubs to match.

The new owners have really turned it around & always have an excellent range of real ales on.

muddycoffee
I believe the bell jar is supposed to be a student themed pub. I welcome the venture and also hope that the Royal and tramways can also reopen in some form one day.
