BEDROCK
Well, seeing as we are in 2013 and not 1313, could you ever live a life without fuel? Meaning gas, electricity, batteries, screens, creature comforts and all the mod cons we take for granted. It seems that every time we have a power cut, we all run around like headless chickens, it really is sad I would say this though, if we had World War 3, it would surprise us all of how resourceful we would soon be. You mean the few minutes running around like headless chickens before we're frazzled.

megalithic
I often survive several days whilst backpacking without conventional fuel/power, it's no biggy, in fact i find it quite refreshing.

Same here, when I go away for a few days it feels like freedom. But question is, could you go cold turkey for a whole year without the mod cons. If I had to live in the woods all my life in a small cabin, I would probably be more deadly than Ray Mears

geared
Even cavemen had fuel, to cook food on and keep warm in winter.

Once you've done it for a week or more it's second nature and you forget all about mod cons.
