unbeliever Posted March 25, 2017 Share Posted March 25, 2017 I asked how many people were killed by fracking in response to your comment that implied that the elderly would be killed by poisonous toxins and therefore would not benefit from reduced heating bills. I'm not sure how pointing out that there are a high number of workplace accidents in the oil and gas extraction industry in the U.S relates to that? Clearly it doesn't. That's why we're being invited to make unjustified conclusion that because there are workplace accidents in Fracking they're going to kill all the locals through negligence. I am not sure where the heat is directed now but I am sure you can find out if you want to put some time into that instead of trying to tear off strips of flesh from people on here.. No it's not a very great benefit. How much gas was used to fire the incinerator? For the volume of waste put in heating a small number of buildings is trivial really. scargill Posted March 27, 2017 Share Posted March 27, 2017 I don't know your individual views about fracking, but there are any number of rumours flying around, so I thought I'd let you know where I think we are with this situation. Although Sheffield City Council has a policy of not allowing fracking licences, this only applies to council land. All other applications must be considered in the planning round. There are already applications pending in South Sheffield. Landowners around Bradfield Oughtibridge and Stannington have been approached to allow test drilling in their land. That's a fact that Ineos are happy to admit. This area is covered by licences and any company is entitled to apply for test wells. That's why there are Stocksbridge and Penistone as well as Stannington groups against fracking on Facebook. In Mosborough, there was a meeting last Thursday chaired by Clive Betts with the Cabinet member for planning, acting head of planning, Ineos, EA and the HSE.
