Fracking in Sheffield?

Recommended Posts

Apparently they squirt water into the holes.

Are they on a water metre or do they hold major shares in the water companies as well.

Bermuda, Jersey, Cayman Islands etc...

Take your pick.

That's racist/homophobic (what does that mean anyway does it mean you're afraid to leave your house or afraid to go into it?)

Interesting you say that. This is not strictly related to fracking but people have cut energy usage by 25% http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23723385 Looks like energy bills are going to go up by 25% then

Energy bills have risen by over 28% in the last 3 years already.

This all part of the "We'll rip off the British Tax payer again" plot, put up the prices before Fracking gets under way and then if the price of gas does fall 2% or 3% the blind leading the blind bunch on here will actually believe they've had a bonus. :loopy:

None so blind as those who don't want to see made up of "we'll dub our forelocks to the wealthy brigade".

I'm not sure what to make of this story.

Church of England in 'fracking land-grab'

The Church of England has begun legal action to claim ancient mineral rights beneath thousands of homes and farms, prompting fears the church could seek to cash in on fracking.

Are they planning to cash in or will they block attempts to frack on land they have the rights over.

The CoE is in no different position as landowner. A freeholder is vested with the fee simple. This may bring with it all mines and minerals IF the land was 'Copyhold' pre-1925, because those rights were incidents of the Lord of the Manor. There is no such 'legal action' but, rather, intended registrations of those already-existing rights. As from midnight on 12 October 2013, many would cease to be 'Interests that Override' [= interests that bind the land even if not mentioned in the title deeds or on HMLR registers]- hence the need to register them.

Oh, and the change is for the same reasons as all the kerfuffle about 'Chancel Liability', another such incident.
