Fracking in Sheffield?

Recommended Posts

It's both. Methane is a molecule. It is not energy. It stores energy, is a molecule that has chemical potential energy. That potential is realised in certain conditions like igniting it when oxygen is present.

Yes it has energy but it is not energy. I've never denied it.

If it's made up of atoms and bonds, then it is indeed energy

In which case methane and (more importantly) it's constituent atoms are indeed energy.

Q.E.D.

No, its matter and all matter as the potential to release energy, but matter isn't energy and energy isn't matter. Matter can become energy and energy can become matter but something can't be both at the same time.

Einstein will be thrilled to know that you've refined his ideas. Some might uncharitably say "over simplified".

Why do you keep saying that? Nobody's denying that it's matter, it's just you denying that it's energy. If you disagree with the 9 forms of energy then you should tell it to science.

All matter contains potencial energy, but the matter isn't energy. A brick is matter, not energy, but it does have the potencial to release energy.

Wrong.

The atoms that make up a brick can be viewed as energy. Indeed you need to view them as such to explain many of their properties.
