jackthedog
My god, this thread should be entitled "The Great Oakley Debate" Originally posted by neeeeeeeeeek Jack? Compared to the 2quid glasses you buy from the market?? Of course they are going to be better! So this whole discussion about a good place to get prescription glasses from and ALL your posts saying buy Oakley glasses as they are Sooooooo much better has been futile!!! You were not talking about Prescription glasses at all!!! Oakley frames provide enough benefits alone to make me buy those instead of other brands. By pointing out how impressed I am with the (non-prescription) lenses I am showing how much I respect Oakley as a brand. I was pointing out the benefits of the lenses IN ADDITION to the quality of the frames, which I believe is reason enough to buy them. I pointed out that they do make good lenses in retort to your statement they are just generic products with an Oakley sticker. Which is not true. Go and have a look at a (genuine) pair of Oakleys - Prescription or otherwise. They are better than other brands. Much so IMO. I'll carry on wearing my Oakleys, you stick with your lesser quality glasses. As for Land Rover, you either get it or you dont. You obviously dont, so I wouldn't even be interested in getting you started.
Foxxx
Well this has all been amusing! I used to wear glasses before going over to the contacts you sleep in (fantastic). Anyway, I went to an opticians (can't remember name but not a chain, just a one off) and fell in love with some frames that happened to be DNKY, which were very very expensive and claimed to be the best made etc etc. The optician very kindly told me I could order the exact same frames from the company who make the frames for DNKY, only difference being it would not have the name on it. Fantastic, saved about 250 quid and to be honest didn't want the name on them. I had only picked the DNKY ones up by accident and loved them. So beware, it is the name you pay for. You should try some of the italian companies out there that are specialists in sunglasses and a fraction of the price of Oakleys. In fact there are loads of other makes that have the quality you are talking about at a fraction of the cost, you just haven't heard of them. I wish I could get Oakleys without a badge for £250 less. Would have saved me a fortune. If anybody knows how/if I can do this, i'd be very greatful! As for the lenses you sleep in - can you tell me a bit more about what you think cos i've been considering them for a while. I can't be bothered with the saline anymore... Just bare in mind that I'm not judging them on their name. I'm not a badge monkey. I have only spoken of my personal opinion of the quality of the Oakley products I have owned. Which I have always sworn by, and never had problems with. You all seem to have me pegged as a burberry chav.

I can't be bothered with the saline anymore... I'm not sure about who makes the Oakley frames. My last post I spoke of italian companies, but that was to do with good qulaity sunglasses as an alternative to Oakleys. I don't know much about Oakleys and who makes them, other than my brother lost his and was gutted! Contact lenses, £30 a month delivered to my door from D&A (although can get cheaper from specsavers, I just prefer the care you get from D&A). Put them in and leave them in for 30 days. I love them to bits. I am pretty blind so have to wear something to see. It is so nice to wake up in the morning and see, fall asleep watching TV at night without worrying about breaking glasses. The material lets in something like 80% more oxygen hence how you sleep in them, and the polymer used doesn't allow build up of protein for 30 odd days. You do get solution and a case provided each month to take them out if you choose to. I take mine out once or twice a month, rinse and put back in. I used to wear normal lenses and found my eyes dried out a lot, but these ones I don't notice I'm wearing them. Very occasionally if in smokey pub I need to put a couple of eye drops on them, which I carry round with me anyway. I would never go back to glasses or normal contacts now.
