Ghozer
I have a friend visiting for a week from outside the UK, he flew into Manchester this morning, and is currently stuck at the train station as all the trains to Sheffield are cancelled up to now... Due to the weather... Does anyone have any suggestions? as cheap as possible as he doesn't have much money on him at the moment until he sorts his travellers cheque things out... Thanks :S

Agent Orange
Other than bus, there are no other cheap alternatives.
Annie Bynnol
Catch a bus into Manchester. Go to Victoria Station. Train to Huddersfield or Leeds then Sheffield. OR Catch a train to Stoke or Crewe then to Derby then Sheffield First TransPennine Express passengers may use Metrolink services on reasonable routes and CrossCountry trains to / from Leeds or York if you already have a ticket. Trains to and from Manchester Piccadilly are returning to normal. There will still be some delays of up to 45 minutes due to the disruption.
