Third of MPs are 'Buy To Let' landlords

Recommended Posts

The Government are not alone when it comes to shafting the public.

We'll se proof of that when they sell off Shale Fracking like they did North Sea Oil & Gas to the fat cats at a knock down price.

The sad thing is that self harmers on here will argue for the government.

If would be if they were building new houses, but they're not. They are buying up properties that already exists and that does not increase the available housing stock, unless they renovate derelict buildings which they would probably sell on rather than rent out.

Ever watch Homes Under the Hammer? Landlords buy derelict properties in need of TLC at auction, spend thousands of pounds on renovation, and quickly turn them from uninhabitable into livable dwellings ready for a family to move in.

You are classing investors as builders, when new stock is built builders are pleased to sell to investors who then rent on. To buy to renovate is another model but can be less predictable unless you are an expert renovator.

The introduction of private capital into the housing market can only be a positive.

The thread title mentions "MPs", not to which political party they belong.

It would be interesting to know which parties; but since most MPs are millionaires, or should that be most cabinet ministers(?), they are lively to have many interests.

A quarter of Conservative MPs are private landlords.

83 out of 305 Conservative MPs are supplementing their income through private tenants.

Only 12.5 per cent of Labour MPs and 15 per cent of Liberal Democrats own properties that they rent out.

Why dont' t you specify a percentage for the Conservative MPs like you do for the other parties?

Percentage for Cons is 27.2%

Then you'd be able to compare like-with-like.
