Bonzo77
Ariel Castro claims, he is not a monster. He claims his addiction to sex and internet pornography is to blame for his actions. I'm not condoning what he did, he deserves his punishment. However, after a quick scan round the internet, I've found very little help for sex addicts. What's your thoughts on the subject of sex addiction? I think it clearly exists and causes problems for people. Maybe if there was more awareness and support for sex addicts, instances like this may be reduced in the future?

El Cid
What's your thoughts on the subject of sex addiction? Its a psychological addiction, not a physical addiction. It was nice to see that his sentence could be life + 1000 years.

Well, I did find a few Christian pages that offered help, but they would bring God into it! Relate charges a lot of money for sessions. However, I do believe they will take as little as £20 per session as a minimum, in exceptional circumstances. You do have to go out of your way to look for help though. I think more awareness needs to be raised for an illness with such stigma attached. ---------- Post added 02-08-2013 at 09:20 ---------- Its a psychological addiction, not a physical addiction. El Cid
But was he suffering from addiction? Was he ill? What types of addiction is a good reason to break the law? Smoking, alcohol, cannabis, sex, food; or none.
Mecky
There is no such thing as sex addiction I wouldn't be too sure of that, but if it exist it doesn't excuse behaviour, which is the problem and not whether someone is addicted to sex.

WeX
Isn't there?? Care to explain why you think this? You do not NEED sex, therefore you cannot be addicted to it, plus it is now widely considered to be a myth by psychological practitioners.
