GimpyChris
For a headwetting on Sat 31st Aug, ideally in the afternoon but evening ok. Does anyone know of anywhere that runs regular sessions or would/may cater specifically for a group of between 6 and 10 on this date? Google no help really so hoping people on here may know. Thanks a million!! Chris
taxman
The Blake Hotel in Walkley does regular(ish) tastings, both Whisky and Gin. Also I think The Harlequin on Nursery Street has done tastings in the past.
alternageek
The Broadfield on Abbeydale Rd does whiskey tasting and they have room to rent out for occasions (not sure if its free, but you can go to their website and inquire if they can arrane a private event for you) I think their next whiskey tasting is American Whiskeys. The Rutland in town does them as well. A quick google brings back a listing of pubs in Sheffield that specialise in Whiskey: http://whiskysheffield.wordpress.com/sheffields-whisky-pubs/
WalkleyAndy
The gent who leads the tastings at the Blake, and the Sheaf View, and also who writes some or all of the whiskysheffield blog is a guy called Jeff - jeffdrinks on Twitter. If he's free and up for it, get him and a room and you're sorted. He knows his stuff, whether you're talking scotches, bourbons or whatever. GimpyChris
Thanks all. I contacted The Blake and The Harlequin earlier. Both promised call backs but only Jeff at The Blake delivered. Seemed a really nice chap who spent a fair amount of time talking me through how the event can be tailored to us. After that was more than happy to book in with him. Cheers for the recommendations. Very much appreciated.

I've been to The Blake's whisky tasting before - Jeff knows his stuff - and they've probably the biggest selection in Sheffield as well as being a great pub
