Great Britain?

Recommended Posts

We never lost our greatness, we spent blood and treasure fighting dictators throughout the 20th century, at first alone, then joined by the US when they realised that if we failed they were next. They then stabbed us in the back causing us to lose the empire. Ours was the greatest empire in the history of the world. Built on justice, fairness and democracy.

Even after we gave up the Empire there are still 15/16 countries whoo recognise the Queen as head of state. The Yanks drool over our royal family.

We are a small country now, but we are still a great one, be proud.

I always though it referred to all the British isles, as in greater britain rather than "we're well great us"

That does seem to be the popular theory in which case we don't have much to worry about do we. Even with landslip back in to the sea we haven't shrunk too much.

It is referred to as Great Britain in order to distinguish it from little Britain, by the French ironically enough.

Grande Bretagna as opposed to Petite Bretagna or Brittany as we refer to it.

Purely a geographical description or at least that is what I was told many years ago.

We could still be a great country if we were allowed to be. We need to stop caring what other countries think of us.

get over it, we arent anymore and never will, theres so many others that have risen to us or above us now, the worlds a different place, its got nothing to do with attitude
