Labour Attacks Tesco Over Foreign Staff!

Recommended Posts

I think there may be some truth in what he says but if you are going to make a potentially highly controversial speech like that you have to get your facts 100% before it gets anywhere near the press!

To have a basic mistake like mentioning a distribution centre that does not exist shows the lack of competence you have currently in the labour party.

Shame because we need a strong opposition to challenge some of the decisions of the coalition.

But you write the same things on every thread.

Who are you trying to influence? Is it just to convince yourself?

It is a mantra, if constantly repeated no matter how ludicrous, someone may just take it seriously. It worked, for a time, for Goebbels.

Rubbish. Most people were working for decent wages before Labour got in in 1997. Wages in real terms plummetted under their government, mainly because of mass immigration.

Absolutely right. It did however companies in this country to make decent profits, good for taxes, good for shareholders. Unions screwed. There are positives.

I loved his speech when he finally made it. How to waffle for 5 minutes without saying anything whilst those reporting it take the mickey because of the trailed speech he handed to them a couple of days before. Still Mecky will defend him whatever he said, if indeed he said anything at all.

It was incredibly bad, I am no socialist but I do recognize the importance of having a credible opposition. How did Labour central office allow him to do this?

Could there be a plot within the Labour party to oust these front bench cretins, are they actually being set up to fail?

To have any chance at all the current leadership of Miliband and Balls has to change Miliband is almost un electable and a huge mistake for them as I think many in the party are now realising he simply does not communicate with the voters.

If Milliband went and Alan Johnson came in the Tories would start sweating. I cannot think of any other Labour MP who can worry them.

Its very serious and bad for democracy when a once great party sinks to this low ebb.

I'm happy while Milliband is in. I can't see him winning government. The worst case scenario is someone like Prescott making leadership. I doubt it would happen, but he is noisy and convincing to people who can't think right. I think he's probably their best bet.

Sweating - or laughing?

Alan Johnson: 'I don't lose sleep over prospect of 70m population ...

Johnson might not be too worried by any of the Tory MPs ... it's just as well you don't live in a Police State though, isn't it?

I agree with that bit. Ideally, Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition should be just as good as the party/parties in power and should be able to give the government a run for their money.

Tesco could pay all their staff a minimum of £20 an hour - but then they'd pass the cost on to their customers through increased prices.

And those customers would shop elsewhere, wouldn't they?

They do anyway, a weekly shop used to cost me £80-£85 a week in Tesco, now I buy the same items in Asda for around £60 a week!!! so maybe they're paying £20 an hour wages already
