RootsBooster
When my grandson was born in Jessops 5 years ago ( last monday) I got into a conversation with one of the nurses about some of the names parents lumber their children with. She informed me that a child in an adjoining ward had been named Lucifer. At first I refused to believe it but she assured me it was true. 'Good luck getting him christened.' Was my comment. Funnily enough ,I've mentioned this to a few people & it's surprising how many youngsters have no idea why it may not have been such a good choice. It's quite a nice name, translated as "Shining one", "Illuminated one", "Morning Star". There's only a problem with it if you believe the rumours about the original character from that book

Jeffrey Shaw
Has he got a brother called Brian? No, but he's a Very Naughty Boy. His siblings are Micah and Mason. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-23665106
Vague_Boy
at this point he has had no choice in what his name is I don't remember being given a choice either. Maybe I could sue someone? Personally I'd have gone for "Dirk". Or "Ace". "Zack" has a certain ring to it also.
RootsBooster
I wonder if he'd try to stop Muslim parents calling their child "Muhammad" ?
Tommo68
There are hundreds of people throughout the world with names like Jesus or Mohammed so why is Messiah not acceptable.. I know people called King. Prince, Lord. Earl, etc and who knows what some of the meaning is of some foreign names?
Rupert_Baehr
At least he wasn't called Furzeton. If Jesus was Jewish, how come he had a Mexican name?
Jeffrey Shaw
If Jesus was Jewish, how come he had a Mexican name? He wasn't even called "Jesus"- that's merely a Latinised version of his Hebrew name Yehoshua [equivalent to 'Joshua'].
Parvo
Names are often abbreviated....poor child could easily have ended up as Messy......
