Tyranna Posted August 12, 2013 Share Posted August 12, 2013 Just a quickie, which I shoul have posted ages ago, as I noticed for almost the past month that the LORD NELSON pub on the corner of Union St. and Arundel Gate has clearly closed down; it has a 'To Let' sign up and the pub signs with the name on have been removed, although you can still see some of the interior decor through the upstairs windows. Anyone know what has happened? It used to be a quite friendly venue, and had the 80's retro electronica night 'Collision' once a month, so it is a shame if it has shut. At least we still have the Dove and Rainbow and Corporation as well as the (under new management) Bell Jar for the Rock/Goth crowd, although the Boardwalk and the Casbah are also long gone, so that there are fewer decent small live venues. Are the people who ran the Lord Nelson running a new venue elsewhere? Is there a new location for Collision or any other nights the Nelson used to do? Any info would be welcome! Powerage Posted August 13, 2013 Share Posted August 13, 2013 The Nelson closed about 2 months ago, due to the massive costs involved in keeping the old run down building going and ridiculous rent charges.
